What do you do with old slides after purchasing Romeo1Pro slides?

988 Views 14 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  SigsAndPoutine
The title pretty much says it all. I bought new Romeo1Pro slides for my 9mm P229 Legion and my MK25. I've posted pictures of them here:

I really like the red dots and shoot better with them. The old slides are sitting in the safe, and I don't know when/if I'll use them again. Should I sell them? I don't think so.

I can't imagine selling either of these pistols, but if I did, they might sell better in "original condition" with "original slides." The original slides would also be useful, if I ever wanted to (or needed to) send the guns back to the factory.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

I’d keep them.
X2. I keep my slides. I don't always shoot with a red dot so I like the
option of changing them out.

Here's the bottom line, the take offs, are already paid for, so don't cost you any more for keeping them.

If something changes in the future, and your RXs die, and can't be repaired or replaced, then you have backup top ends for them. Plus if you ever do decide to part with the pistols themselves, you may be better off selling the pistols as they were originally, and the optic slides separately.

Just as we are on the Romeo Pro currently, how long before the next "upgrade", with a different footprint? Change obsoletes older versions, to the point they may become unusable!

And historically sig loves to screw it’s early adopters so just keep ‘em since you have backups

Extra slides increase resale value should you ever need or want to sell. OTOH, you can always list the slide for sale on this forum, or on any other gun forum.

Unless you are hurting for the money that you could get from them, I would keep them.
Thanks, everyone, I'll keep them. I probably won't use them much, as I have a couple of West German Sigs with iron sights. In any case, I'll have them for backup.

Well, you could sell them.
I keep mine. Even though I have adapted to optics on pistols pretty well, I still swap on my original iron sight slides for practice at the range. They will never fail!

If nothing else, you have. whole slide assembly of spare parts. ;)

Its really up to you.
If you don't want them kicking around sell them. If you can just out them in a box and be done then thats an option too.
You can get them drilled and tapped/converted for most optics.
I keep all of my slides also. I like the option of shooting without the red dot. And having them if I ever need to send them in for service. Not that I couldn’t send them with the optic cut slide. The more the merrier for me!

Have them cut/milled/cerakoted, then build another.
