This is the model number of a P226 40sw with a DAK trigger. The W in front is significant, in my understanding, that it's for law enforcement/government entities only. Does anyone know for sure what the W means in front of the model number and what it does to the price?

Thanks.

OK thanks. So it looks to be around the same as a non-W or standard P226 and DAK.

Could there be any kind of mechanical difference then, between a W and non W model?

The "W" is used to denote guns produced under a program to be sold at special prices for LE agencies.

From what I understand, there are no design or manufacturing differences between the "W" guns and the others. It's just a serial numbering scheme that says it was produced to be sold in these discounted programs.

No issues with civilians owning them either.
