So, I won THIS GUNBROKER AUCTION today using the BIN feature. I had been texting with the seller, and as soon as I won, he starts telling me he thinks the package is worth WAY more than his own BIN price, and says he's gonna cancel the deal because he wants to try and get more money. My freaking JAW DROPPED. No shame in his game AT ALL. Cool as anything. Eff you, I'm not completing the deal, even though I got the max possible amount I was hoping for, I want MORE.

This GB Help article here says he CAN'T cancel the transaction...

But guess what? I go to check the transaction page... it says CANCELED.

This is why man..... this is why everybody HATES gunbroker. I submitted my complaint and my screenshots where he says he's just gonna refuse the whole deal because he's decided he wants more money, but I'm sure nothing will come of it, doubt I will ever hear back anything.

For those interested, his SN is MHSEARS1 / real name Mark Sears. Posting his contact info would be over the line, but man, I hope all you out there in SIGTALK land pay attention and stay clear of this guys, he has several other Sigs listed, and I'm sure GB will take zero action against this guy.

Now I'm afraid to try again for another copperhead on GB....

GB is the Craig's List of gun buying - avoid at all cost (or pay the price) :)

I once listed a NightForce Scope locally and on GB; it took some time, but it sold locally and I forgot to take it off GB. About 1-2 weeks later, it also sells on GB and I no longer own it (uh-oh). The buyer was very understanding about my mistake and was okay with cancelling the transaction but GB would not let me out of paying the Final Value Fee, which wasn't cheap for $1,500 scope. With any luck, your seller got hit with the fee too.
Or maybe go in and win every bid of his and then tell him you don't think it is worth that much. lol

I buy from GB sellers quite often. But follow the common sense process. Only buy from seller that takes credit cards/ has high feedback scores - then I read their feedback looking for clues..Like a newer seller with 50+ rating but most of the feedback seems cut and paste. Look for warning signs. I have had a few incidents where the condition was not fully represented, but I only buy when something is well below new price..so occasional finish or component issues aren't a bother..I work on a lot of firearms.

The page you link to states that the BUYER can't cancel a transaction. I don't see any verbiage that forbids a SELLER from doing so.

Be thankful!
IIf the picture of a braced pistol is accurate, he was/is selling a Short Barrel Rifle (SBR) without going through the current ATF process.
That would be an illegal sale. He actually stopped short of making you a felon under the current ATF Rule governing braced pistols.
While the new ARF Rule has a 120 day amnesty periond, the Rule is in effect now -- with its filling requirements and its penalties.
And this is why I got off Gunbroker years ago. Like over 10 Years ago....

Over the holidays I won a bid for a P230 and when I contacted the buyer, he wanted to do Zelle, Venmo, etc. I told him that I wasn't cool with it and then he wanted me to pay at least half that way and I still disagreed. Finally, he said to just do $50 just to make sure I was fully interested. I continued to say "no" and he finally said he would accept my credit card. I gave him the CC number and sure enough the next day, I started getting small charges until my CC company noticed it and notified me. I immediately claimed fraud and had already reported the company to GB when he kept insisting. Too good to be true is what I am always told. dadsvenom121 was the user and is no longer on GB.

with 75 A+ reviews I have had only one problem transaction. I allways purchase from the bigger dealers and stay away from the single count review sellers. Research, research, research the seller or potental buyer if selling.

I have bought from GB 38 times, never have had a problem and all were very smooth transactions. All of these were for items that were not available locally and 12 were collectable guns.

Gunbroker is "overly generous" with their A+ ratings. I have seen several sellers with recent negative feedback who still have an A+, which is crazy.

Before I bid on anything on Gunbroker I have some dialog with the seller. If they are professional and a bit friendly, I'll bid. If they don't reply or their replies are "highfalutin," I pass.
This is good advice. I've made several purchases on GB, some on auction and some at the seller's stated price. I get nervous about bidding when the seller does not appear to be a business, or has less than about 250 sales and less than an A+ rating. Usually I'll sent him an email with a question, especially if it's a high-dollar amount. How he replies makes a difference. So far, so good.

So sorry about your experience on GB. Glad you didn't lose any $$$.

That is horrible! Leave a scathing review about mhsears1‘s unethical business practice. I’ve used gunbroker and had a good experience.…unfortunately you dealt with an a hole.

I've had nothing but good results on GB, but I always buy from sellers with lots of sales, and I prefer to look for acceptable BIN deals with no CC charges and non-ridiculous shipping fees, rather than play the bidding game. I've seen guns that had NO bids get re-listed, and once I put ONE low bid in, it suddenly gets bid on repeatedly, even though the price is WAY over any sensible buyer's limits.
I've won or purchased 49 firearms using GB, and have had no trouble from any of the vendors. That said, I, like many others, only use vendors that have a large transaction count and an A+ rating. I always try to check out the seller's web site if they have one, and look for good conact information on the site. Sometimes, I will try to buy from the vendor directly, rather than pay all the various fees associated with a GB purchase.

That's a bit too simplistic. GB is not a free website, they charge a commision to the seller and the price the buyer pays includes the seller's fees. Therefore, it would be reasonable to expect a better job policing the website. Unfortunately they don't and worse yet they don't appear to care. There are plenty of honest gun shops in the United States that can be contacted for the firearm you are looking for. It appears that GB doesn't care to weed out the dishonest ones and I no longer wish to use them as I once did buying and selling many firearms and accessories.
I have never had issues on GunBroker... If they choose to break the contract, it will count against them. I have had to pay if I overbid...
I have made some past GB purchases all went well.

You have to check out these sellers now days, it's not like the past when people were real and honest, and they valued the last name their parents gave them.

Glad all you lost in this bad deal was some time and your patience,
