Today I learned why so many people HATE Gunbroker.....check THIS out

So, I won THIS GUNBROKER AUCTION today using the BIN feature. I had been texting with the seller, and as soon as I won, he starts telling me he thinks the package is worth WAY more than his own BIN price, and says he's gonna cancel the deal because he wants to try and get more money. My freaking JAW DROPPED. No shame in his game AT ALL. Cool as anything. Eff you, I'm not completing the deal, even though I got the max possible amount I was hoping for, I want MORE.

This GB Help article here says he CAN'T cancel the transaction...

But guess what? I go to check the transaction page... it says CANCELED.

This is why man..... this is why everybody HATES gunbroker. I submitted my complaint and my screenshots where he says he's just gonna refuse the whole deal because he's decided he wants more money, but I'm sure nothing will come of it, doubt I will ever hear back anything.

For those interested, his SN is MHSEARS1 / real name Mark Sears. Posting his contact info would be over the line, but man, I hope all you out there in SIGTALK land pay attention and stay clear of this guys, he has several other Sigs listed, and I'm sure GB will take zero action against this guy.

Now I'm afraid to try again for another copperhead on GB....

There’s a good reason to steer clear of sellers with a small amount of feedback (6). And in another transaction he sent 2 mags instead of 3, and they were loaded with ammo. I wouldn’t purchase anything from him regardless of the price.

Broker is just a broker .. they are there to get the commission , that's all
You are on your own .. lot of scams in there

Thanks for the heads up about a GB thief. I’ve not bought a lot on GB but the few times I have, the transaction went smooth. Like someone mentioned above, sellers with A+ ratings and 100’s of transactions are good to go.

That's me.

When I go to the checkout page it says THIS ORDER HAS BEEN CANCELED

BUT I ONLY HAVE 2FB LOL! Yeah I saw that about him mailing loaded magazines. I should have been more cautious

Best part about all this... he had already listed this once before at a higher price and got zero bids. That's why this auction says ***REDUCED PRICE

Wow, that's a new one on me.
Thanks. I always have used the BIN option because I thought there was less of a chance of shenanigans.

I’d probably go in and bid high on every auction, then leave negative feedback. Screw him

Your mistake was dealing with an almost zero feedback character. But I agree, GB is overrun with a$$holes.

As expected, he clapped back with negative FB of his own... picked some BS out of a hat and said I "cyberthreatened" him.

Well, if saying I would report him to GB and warn folks in the forums he was a bad seller counts as cyberthreatening, call me guilty I guess.

Except I have these....

I would never buy a gun on GB unless it's from an FFL. Not that you can't get screwed over but less likely. Regardless, your seller appears to be a liar with NO integrity. At least you didn't lose any money.

About a year ago I listed a shotgun on GB. The high bidder never paid. Numerous contact to the high bidder and GB proved to be wasted time. GB ignored my requests for help to get paid. In fact, they charged me the selling fee and my numerous messages explaining the situation were ignored. I joined GB about 15 years ago. It worked well for me both buying and selling for years. No more; communication is non-existant and I am no longer a member. I guess their motto is now "Caveat Emptor".

Anyone who uses online venues should understand that there are limits to what they can do for you after the sale. And those limits vary depending on the venue, and the situation.
And...no online venue should be expected to completely protect a buyer who makes a chancy decision, based on insufficient and/or inspite of bad feedback of the seller.
I'm not trying to criticize you OP, but people should recognize that there are no failsafe shortcuts for due diligence. And when a shortcut is taken it's at the buyer's risk. As are most all sales of an online nature.
I've bought a few dozen items on GB and have yet to have a bad experience. Doesn't mean I'm not going to, but I do try to do as much research into sellers I have not done business with in the past as I can, and then hope for the best. So far good fortune has been the result.
Sorry this happened to you but at least you didn't pony up your hard earned funds and get nothing in return. There are "sellers" out there, on every venue, who get away with that too. Sad to say.

I’m not into buying anything significant off of GB, Etsy, or EBay. Hard no.
