If it is an all original gun made in 1918, then I am not surprised at all it brought that kind of money.

It was surprising to me since I had mine valued at from $2,000 to $2500. Not that it is for sale. I kind of think mine is a better example; although I have seen pictures of nicer ones from the same era.

You never know how an auction is going to go. The same gun may have gone for as little as $1500 at another time.

I'm not sure, but in the picture taken from "right rear", almost appeared to be a faint arsenal stamp... just to the rear of the grip. If that is the "case", it may have not been "original" per se... a case where being "well worn" may have came in handy for the seller.

lamarw, I see no such marks on yours, so it may have never went through an arsenal rebuild.
