I know that Naval Criminal Investigative Service has gone to .40 S&W with the SIG P229 and P239 pistols from their older SIG P228 9mm x 19. What I am curious about is two fold.

What was the 9mm ammunition that NCIS carried a few years ago? I have heard Federal Hydra-Shock and Winchester JHP. I am sure they, as well as no one else in law enforcement, carries the FMJ ammunition as a regular carry.

Of the newer .40 S&W, what is the issued ammunition that they use when they are carrying on duty?

Last I heard, they carry whatever hollow point federal agencies and the military are issued.

I was told it was the LMK 243 Mod 0

I have no idea what the bullet is comparable to, but if I had to make a guess, the Federal Hi Shok.

For the .40, I thought I read somewhere they were HST's. Which was part of the massive ammo contract order that was made for federal agencies under Obama.
