Picking up my new P320 yesterday, I asked the salesman to show me how to field strip it. He could not get the take down lever to rotate around to the 7:00 position. After we BOTH tried a few times and wasted about 15 minutes, he left and talked to the owner of the shop. A few minutes later he came back and showed me what was wrong.

The guide rod was interfering and simply pushing up on the protruding end of it (with the slide back) corrected the problem and enabled the take down lever to be turned fully and the gun disassembled.

Probably not news for you old-timers, but it was interesting to me!

I recall a similar issue with my P365 when it was new as well.

Even without the guide rod problem the take down lever on a new 320 can be quite difficult to rotate. Typically the problem goes away after it wears in just a bit.

Open slide, put gun in left hand and using right thumb push takedown lever from over the top of the gun. Much easier that way.
