Strong side IWB

2055 Views 22 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  TimKempAK
Seeing what people like. Looking for recommendations for a strong side, 4 o’clockish IWB holster for a 365XL with a red dot.
Open to leather or Kydex.
Not really a fan of AIWB but if I had to choose one it would be the style that just holds the gun - no mag carrier

I'm a fan of BlackPoint Tactical. They are very comfortable IMO. I prefer kydex/Injection mold over leather for retention.
There are so many to choose from. I have tried Blackhawk, Bravo Concealment, DeSantis, Alien Gear just to name a few. Bravo are nice if you wanna try something that's inexpensive but it's not the most ergonomic for me.
I like Azula and Right leather Works holsters , High quality and reasonable price
Get leather if you value your gun ..

Which holster is that?
I have several of Wright Leatherworks holsters for a few other firearms. They are a pocket holster and a couple OWB ones though. Never tried any of their IWB

That’s Cruiser IWB from WLW with Romeo optic cut .
I trimmed down the side to make it compact

I really like the look of Blackhawks Stache holster.

Can you expand on this comment? I am trying to understand what you mean.

I really like the look of Blackhawks Stache holster.
I haven't tried that one. But it appears similar to the Bravo Concealment style.
For IWB, I discovered the Milt Sparks Versa-Max II a long time ago. All my CCW pistols over the last 20+ years are carried in the VM-II. They are not inexpensive, there is a long wait for them, but I find them very comfortable(I can carry my P245 IWB all day long in the car with minimal discomfort). The last one I ordered for the 365XL with optic cut, and like all the others, I love it. I ordered my first one over 20 years ago for the P220/226, and quit searching for IWB holsters. Quality is not cheap, but I have a large box of “cheaper” holsters I can sell you, since I never use them.

Garret Industries Silent Thunder, best of both worlds.

I have five Wright Leatherworks IWB holsters all are leather lined. They even did a special Custom one for My Lipsey P220 SSE 10MM I usually get both the clips and leather straps I will not have a pistol with a red dottoo bulky to holster.
Phantom from g code. Is my absolute favorite

I ordered an OWB holster from Milt Sparks and will be waiting for some time to receive it. In the mean time I found the VM-2 with optic cut in stock for the same price as direct and had it shipped and delivered within days from a Milt Sparks dealer in Idaho. I have them for my P229 compact and P220 carry as well. Very nice leather holsters.
Wow, what a selection of holsters. I just ordered one from We The People using a Dan Bongino discount. Works fine. After I replaced the red dot with open rear sights I can pocket carry.
Consider that what works for you will likely be drastically different from what works for others. Basically everyone goes through a bunch of different holsters before finding what works for their body type. For example, I can't carry strong side. I've never found a holster that adequately conceals my gun at 3 or 4 o'clock. But appendix works great for me.
I’ll second the Garrett Industries Silent Thunder. I recently ordered one for my P229 while waiting for a Milt Sparks VM-2. The Kydex outer shell combined with the smooth leather lining truly is the best of both worlds. Excellent retention (although no audible click), while also minimizing wear on the gun finish. It’s flexible enough to go 4 o’clock or appendix.

Used with a Kore Essentials leather gun belt makes a WORLD of difference compared to a regular belt.

Thinking about the G Code stealth holster. I like the fact that it had the claw, the can’t adjustment locks in and can’t move, and that it is adjustable to strong side, appendix or cross draw depending on what I want.
I use a StealthGear USA Mini Ventcore IWB holster. They are very comfortable. It has two belt clips to secure the holster.
