I just picked up an SP2022 and have been trying to find magazine extensions, to no avail. I'm referring to the magazine floorplate with a molded in "pinky" extension, that seems to be available for almost any other modern pistol. The funny thing is, almost every replacement magazine I found online incorporates this extension, but for some reason, the two mags with my pistol do not have them. Anyone know where I can find some? I've tried Pearce and the usual parts houses (Midway, CTD, Brownells) I'd hate to replace the magazines at $40 each (but really, it's not the price, just hate to waste them). Thanks!

Did you buy the gun new? How many rounds do your current mags hold? If it is 17 rounds per mag then you have the MecGar extended round mags. If it is 15 rounds and you bought the gun new, then I'd call Sig and find out what happened because the factory mags SHOULD have the "pinky rest". I find it odd for them to be flat bottoms.

Bought my gun new; it had the rest or extension on the provided mag, and so did the two 15 round factory mags I ordered after the fact.

Thanks for the quick response! I bought the pistol second hand. The magazines are both 15rd and marked Sig Pro.. I was hoping someone sold the extensions separately, but on the other hand, maybe someone will want trade one of the flat-bottoms for the pinky extension, as it makes the gun slightly more concealable.

Are the bottoms metal or plastic? If they are metal maybe someone swapped the plastic pinkyrest with metal flat bottom one from another mag that had the same mag dimensions. I noticed that some of the 226's and 229's had flat bottom mags. Just a thought.

HankRearden67 can you post a picture? I have been wanting a magazine without the pinky rest. Does the new Pro's come without the pinky rest? I just bought mine in march so mine is still pretty new.

I appreciate the feedback so far! The mag bottoms are plastic. Here a couple of pictures that should be worth 1000 words. I found a post that said the French police models came with these magazines, but I have not been able to confirm it elsewhere. Plus, I can't see how a French model would have made it here. Not enough wear to have been anyone's service pistol, except maybe Barney Fife.......

I wonder if the previous owner had modified them by grinding off the hook of the pinky extension.

That looks sweet. I personally like it without the pinky extension. Do you know where I can find a magazine without the pinky extension?

Maybe you should IM the OP and maybe he would trade you for one with the pinky extention. He mentioned trading one in his original post.:)

Now that I have looked at your pics on a larger screen than my phone I can assure you that the original owner had ground them down, you can see the grainy texture that sanding or grinding leaves on plastic.

Kenny D hit the nail on the head! When you first suggested that he might have ground them off, I took a closer look and as you say, you can see slight marks where the work was done! They feel so smooth, I never noticed. In fact, if you took some 1200 grit to them, I'll bet the lines would disappear completely!
Thank you to everyone who looked at this; you were all very patient. I feel a little foolish, but it's one of those things that's hard to figure out without some other point of reference. If anyone is interested in some nicely ground pieces, I'll trade floor plates with you. I believe this would pop off without having to mail the whole magazine (I will check). I usually carry a smaller 9mm, so I'm not too concerned with concealing the SP2022, or with clothing snags. This is my around the house/open carry gun. I'd rather have the extra grip.
Thanks again, guys!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help! Thanks to the forum I was able to trade one of the ground-down extensions with another member. Now I have a ground one for carry and a regular one for everything else! Good group here; I will try to contribute more.
