Slide locks back when magazine still has rounds with Icarus SOCOM Carry grip

935 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  SigShiba
I have a Sig P320 XCarry Legion. With the Icarus Precision SOCOM Carry grip module my slide locks back with rounds in the magazine. This happens 1/3 to 1/2 of the rounds in the magazine. I've tried standard M17 17 round magazines as well as my Legion 17 round magazines and the issue occurs. When I switch back to the TXG grip I don't have any issues. Anyone else have this issue?

Not familiar with that particular grip module.

I have had guns over the years where I would experience similar issues unless I was very careful with my grip.
I no longer have any of those guns as I don't want to have to worry about my grip as I move from gun to gun.

I'd have somebody else shoot the gun and see how it behaves for them.
If it turns out to be isolated to the way you grip the gun then you'll have to make a decision.

I would contact ICARUS directly and describe the problem, since it doesn't happen with the Sig grip....

Hi, I bought a Icarus X-Carry Module & this issue happen to me as well!
Tried Different Mags, Different Shooter, Ammunition & still slide locked after every 1 or 2 rounds.
Went back to my Wilson Combat Module & work fine.

Were you able to find a solution to this??

Icarus will help you out. Their customer service seems pretty good. I have their XCompact module and had an issue with having to really slam the magazine in to get it to work. Turned out I had damaged the little plastic retainer in the mag release button assembly when I took it out of my other grip module. Anyway, the point being that Icarus worked with me to diagnose the problem (I just needed buy a new retainer piece).

Update: For my Issue. I did contact Icarus mentioned all my issues & that I had noticeable wear on the left side of the frame. They gave me a couple tips to troubleshoot. But they said they never encountered this issue & advise to keep putting rounds down might need to be broken in. Heading out to the range next week so Ill keep you guys posted.

Try switching out your mag release.
Try reseating the FCU, the Icarus grips can be tight and that might cause the slide release to catch and stick. I had this problem with one of my socom Icarus grips and swapped a couple FCUs in and out until I found one that worked smoothly. Who knows what the tolerances are on the Icarus grips, I would not be surprised if a hand full for slightly out of spec.
Wow so a $300+ aftermarket grip doesn't have correct tolerances for the part it was made for...stick with a SIG TXG or AXG or even a Wilson. No one seems to have issues with those.

It's not that uncommon for aftermarket parts to require a little fitting. Sometimes more than a little.
