Sig P320 X-Compact or Sub Compact - What Would You Do?

664 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  bakeporkchop
Hey Guys!

I just picked up an incredible P320 AXG Equinox. It has a great trigger, sights, and feels really good in the hand, however, it gets a little heavy after an 8 hour day with the aluminum frame.

I currently have an old sub compact grip mod from a previous 320 I owned, or I could purchase a new Sig or Wilson Combat X-Compact module. What I am going for is shorter in grip and definitely lighter in weight than the AXG.

Which would you build? Sub compact or X-Compact? I guess I could eventually do both, but for now I want to stick with one.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Put your AXG slide assembly on a X Compact grip module and get some 15 round mags. Or, on your SC grip module and 12 round mags. Some or all of the slides dust cover will be visible using the SC grip module and maybe half with the x compact module.

Thanks Taskotzke59! Which would you choose for concealed carry? X-Compact or sub compact?
For one thing, what side hands do you have? I have 2XL mitts and prefer the X-Compact. I wanted to like the SC better but wasn't as comfy. That said you can carry something smaller and less comfortable with training - I actually carry the P365 SAS and its pretty small....mostly because it's so easy to conceal.

Just go with your gut on this one, you probably already have a pretty good idea what you want to do depending on your ergonomics (hands / body size and ability to conceal a larger handgun frame/slide).

I have huge hands as well and just use Wilson Carry modules.

X Compact. I have large hands. The SC does not work for me.

This 320 has the same length slide/barrel as your AXG EQ but with the WC Carry II GM. This is as small as I’ll go. 357 Sig of course.

Very nice! Gotta love those Wilson grip modules. I am strongly leaning towards the WC X Compact grip mod. I have small to medium hands and my state limits us to 10 rounds so no gain for me going to the carry module.

Sweet holster too. Is that a Milt Sparks Versa Max II?
TT Gun Leather. I have Sparks’ Criterion’s for the P229 Elite and DW Guardian. TT is good but not a Sparks.

Nice! Tim is not far behind Sparks in quality though and his prices and lead time crush Sparks.

Man, you have some nice firearms. (y)
You already have the sub-compact so try that for a bit and see how it works out?

I have medium to large size hands and prefer the subcompact. However, I've been told the Wilson Compact X-Compact grip is really good and will try that one day.
