I am new to Sig Talk but want to ask a question. I have a Sig p229 .40 caliber (2016 model) and I want to start in competitive shooting major caliber. I would like to know what is the largest capacity magazines (quality) that are available for this pistol to shoot competitively. Also what companies sell mag extensions for this weapon. I have Sig 12 round mags but would like more capacity. I prefer the 320’s but Sig says they are only being produced in 9mm’s and doubtful they will ever produce .40/.357 Sig in this platform again. Any help would be most appreciated!!

Same here, but if you already have Sig mags (also are easy to come by now) and use Ebay, there's a seller that sells +2 base pads for the P226 for $15-$18 and they're as reliable as the Mec Gar mags. I have several but in .40 the +2 is a squeeze.

OP has a P229, different +2 floorplate than P226...

Why is that? P226 mags are "extended" and in most competitions 229 mags especially if they have a spacer should be fine.

Look at the picture closely. You won't get extra rounds in those mags.

My 229 mags do not have the dimples, so I stand corrected. I tried the Ebay pads, and they are too narrow to fit. The only option for the OP is 226 mags with a spacer

Thanks to all for the information and the welcome mat! I contacted Greg Cote LLC and got on the notification list for the Mec Gar mags and +4 adapters. I’ll also check the other listed sites. I believe I can get what I need with all this info and I look forward to reading the forums. 👍
