Sig P227 rear sight removal

I was just curious as to if anyone knows how to take off the rear sights for a sig p227. These sites on the top of my gun do not have a dovetail cut all the way through to tap the sides out just curious as to how to get the rest sight off?

What do you mean it doesn't have a dovetail cut all the way through? Can you post a pic?

Seeing will be believing... post some photos, as it's well past April 1st!

Otherwise remove from right to left, install from left to right!

Possibly. My bet is that the person was thinking there would be a wider dovetail cut across the slide where the rear sight sits so that it looked like the front sight's dovetail which shows on each side of the front sight.....

You're probably correct, I was trying to find a photo, such as you have provided, showing a shallow dovetail. None of mine, close at hand are as evident!

My P226 is like that. I guess I thought they all were.

Mt P227s Equinox looks like the first picture I pulled off the internet. My other P227 SASs have a similar rear sight with a regular tritium front sight....

Above is a picture of my P229 with a wider rear dovetail. Anyway, hopefully, the OP got their answer that it is no different when taking off the rear sight as compared to the front sight.
