Recently purchased a brand new sig p226 legion sa/da. Has yet to be fired. Curious on thoughts about the looks on the edge of the grip. Looks like two different grips on each side of gun. Wondering if this is not uncommon and to be expected, or if I got a bad batch. Thanks for any responses!

Yea, that's kinda odd. Look pretty mismatched. I've had two P226 Legions and never noticed anything like that on mine. I think the grips (all 4) were darker colored like the first picture. This is too pricey of a gun for you to just accept that. I think they need to send you a replacement grip for the light colored side. Or at least send you a shipping label to return this one for a matching one. What is the D.O.B. on this one? I think mine were 2015 on the 9mm and 2016 on the .357 Sig IIRC. Does this have the PVD finish or the newer one?

Lighting is slightly different, but regardless there is a noticeable difference in the color of the grip. Will try removing and giving a thorough cleaning to see if that makes a difference. If no luck, will contact Sig. thanks for the replies.

They definitely have something wrong and I'm sure Sig will correct it, it just shouldn't have gone out of the factory that way.

I also see it has the new version mag release plastic locking system - I'm trying to find out if Sig did that to the 220 Legion too.

Grips look the same when looking at the seam where they come together. I’m assuming the grip replacement is as simple as removing the two screws on each side? Thanks for all the replies. Will contact Sig about a replacement grip.

I don't worry about little stuff like that so long the gun shoots and the crown is flawless and trigger excellent. The next set of grips will have something else, then a little wear on the PVD, that coating is more greenish, the other more grayish...dealing with consumers is not fun

Use a dab of Mineral Oil, which will help darken both grips, then buff them both, in the non checkered border. The G-10 composites can dry out, here is what Hogue recommends for maintaining their grips, which I would recommend removing before cleaning, or rehydrating them... if there is still an apparent difference, contact Sig.

The lighting is very different. Look at the frame in both views and the difference is obvious. I don’t care about a precise matchup of OEM grips and the bullets certainly don’t care.

I love the grips on my 226 Legion SAO, no fitting problems.

On yours, it almost looks like they took non-legion grips and added a Legion medallion. If you look at the area where the front strap undercut curve is, that area on my grips is curved to follow the frame. On yours its straight and does not follow the curve of the front strap...

A picture of mine for reference.
