Sig P210 Dual Caliber

1420 Views 14 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  mag318
Looking at some more P210s at my friends shop this afternoon I ran across one with 2 barrels. Both barrels were numbered to the gun, one in the usual 9mm and the other in 7.65mm. I imagine some former Swiss owner ordered the P210 with 2 barrels fitted. Makes me wonder just how common was this since this is the first P210 I've encountered like this except for one with a 22 Conversion Kit numbered to the same pistol with a 9mm barrel. The pistol has a 99% matte blue finish with black plastic grips and I'm thinking about adding this one to the collection. [edited by moderator]

7.65 parabellum (30 Luger) is a really fun round to shoot, and accurate.
I know P49, these Sigs are rather addictive to say the least.

That’s cool! Can you find ammo or dies, or molds for the 7.65mm?
Congrats, that is a great find. You should check for a second recoil spring assembly for the 7.65mm load. I have a 7.65 barrel that I have not been able to import yet which comes with separate recoil rod assembly.
My P210-4 Vorserie came with both 9mm and .30 Luger barrels that were serial numbered to the pistol.

Since this is a pre-production pistol and never meant to be sold to the public, I'm thinking it was a salesman's sample used for demonstration purposes only.

MG34Dan, That is an interesting pistol you have there. Next time I go into my friends shop I'll double check the spring assembly that comes with the extra barrel to see if it's marked 7.65. My only pause is the bore in the 7.65mm barrel. Though mirror bright the rifling is worn to the point it almost looks polygonal, so this barrel has had a lot of rounds thru it. The 9mm barrel has excellent rifling so no worries there. I'm just wondering how much life is left in the 7.65 barrel, but then again I don't plan on shooting it a lot.

I've seen a couple of P210s on GunBroker that came with two barrels (9mm and 7.65) but never paid enough attention to confirm if both barrels had matching numbers.
I checked the spring assembly today and sure enough it was properly marked. I'm really leaning to buying this dual caliber P210.

When the Swiss were switching from the M1929 Luger, it was in .30 Luger (7.65mm Luger) caliber. I imagine there was a fair amount of ammunition in that caliber available as they moved to the 9mm Luger P210... Having both barrels certainly made sense early in the transition.

Hesitate to ask how badly they want to beat you up for the two caliber piece, but that does look really slick.
Bottle neck cartridges are PITA to reload, which has kept me away from them, but then you won't need that many rounds of .30 Luger.
Moon
Moon I decided not to buy it and about an hour later another collector jumped on it for $2900.
