Sig MCX Virtus Patrol - proprietary upper/lower system?

1162 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  smarcc
Is this a proprietary upper/lower system?
I see a local LNIB for sale, with the Sig piston upper.
Just wondering if I can change the upper to any other manufacture upper?
I would like a dedicated 22LR upper, and then possibly a target/varmint .204 upper.

I asked seller, but didn't receive a clear answer...

"Standard Sig AR piston upper."
MCX upper is proprietary BUT you can use the upper on an AR pattern lower WITH THE ADAPTER.

MCX Lower is proprietary. You CANNOT use an AR upper on a MCX lower.

It is very appreciated.

In order to put an MCX Virtus upper on a standard AR lower, you should install the fallowing parts on the AR lower:
  1. MCX Stock Adapter SKU: 2401191-R
  2. Trigger Kit, AR, Two Stage Match Duo SKU: KIT-TRIGGER-AR-DUO
Sig also sells MCX upper kits designed to be used with standard AR lowers, such as the MCX Virtus Upper Assembly SKU: UAMCX-16B-556-TAP, The kit includes the two parts mentioned above.
