Sig M18 or Wilson sig 320?

1183 Views 18 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  Jackal
First post so hello to everyone.
I’m looking into buying a Sig M18 or a SigWilson 320. I have a P239 I’ve had for sometime now but wanting something new for carry and home defense. I know the Sig Wilson 320 in considerably higher. Any opinions on either one?

Welcome!
I sort of cheated. I bought a 320 compact and then the x compact grip module from Wilson Combat. I know I’ll miss out on some features, but it works for me.

Welcome to the forum. I think the M18 is the better way to go, especially if you want the manual safety. There are many different grip modules that can be used, including those from Wilson Combat, that are cut for the manual safety. I have assembled a P320 from parts and built exactly the pistol I wanted, and I have purchased an entire pistol and made minor modifications to get what I desired. That's part of the enjoyment (at least for me) of having a firearm that can be modified so easily.

This M18 is a compact. Not sure what model Wilson you are looking at. I have a 320 compact and really like the size and balance of that size. I put the Wilson grip module on it with the weights in it. I like the Wilson grip better. Not sure if the weights do anything or not. Never tried it without the weights. Mine is the RXP version and I use it as a range gun. Got a 365 for carry.

Welcome ! Get the Sig M18...then get the Wilson grip and take a look at all the toys made for the M18/P320 . You will read on here many different opinions and hopefully you will find what you like.

I’d go with a Wilson Combat model. I don’t have a need for the manual safety of the M18. I also like the look of the Wilson Combat slides. Their grip module is great and a much better feel for me than the standard Sig module with the M18.

Hard to go wrong with either. I went m18 and customized as I wanted.

I purchased a Wilson 320 carry with the upgraded gray Guns tuned flat faced trigger, it is one of the best striker fired pistols I have ever owned. I love it, well worth the money.

For what it's worth, the Wilson enhancements are mostly cosmetic, unless you order extra work. I'd go M-18 if the safety is important to you, or a 320 X Compact if it is not. A Wilson grip can be added for a small additional charge, or, if you're industrious, pick up another Sig module and customize it yourself.

I think it is more fun to “choose your own adventure”. Get a lower cost base gun and build it to suit your needs.

I've got M18, black, to which I added the Wilson Combat grip module. I think it is an improvement on the Sig-Sauer grip. I added a Gray Guns curved trigger (similar in effect to the GG flat face trigger, but a little better fit for me). Like the GG flat trigger, it shortens the radius of the arm and increases the leverage on the trigger, lowering the effort about 30%. A nice part.

You could do something similar with a P320 without a safety (so that posing the question, "a M18 or a Wilson Combat P320 Carry?" is a little like apples and oranges - there's the safety, and then there's the other stuff WC adds that is involved).

Between the grip module and the Gray Guns trigger, I've got $170 into the M18 on top of the $556 initial price, or $726 total. The basic Wilson-Sig collaboration P320 Carry is $1225. That's a $499 difference. You have to look at the list of features that come with the Wilson Combat version (which includes the GG flat trigger and the WC grip module) to see if the extra stuff, much of which is cosmetic, is worth it to you. My course of action tells you I didn't think so!

I think the Wilson Combat P320 is a very cool looking P320. Probably one of my favorite looking high end P320. But you're paying a premium for mostly a cool slide. Functionally it's probably very similar to just an M18 or ordinary P320 with a Wilson Combat Grip and upgraded trigger. I would save the money and go the m18/p320 carry route.

My vote goes to the M18 as well. I have a Wilson carry MS grip on it & works well for me. As was stated earlier with the price difference there are lots you can upgrade to for your particular tastes

I should also add: the M18 comes ready for installation of red dot optics - I don't think the WC P320's do.

I would go m18 with safety.

The M18 has a compact length slide but itself is not a compact. It is a carry model, having a full length grip.

Back to the OP, if you find you want to remove the manual safety and be able to get a regular none manual safety grip module just get yourself a safety delete pin from sig.
