Hello all, new to these forums and a new owner of a SIG 716 as well.

I have a question about the 716 gas valve. I've searched everywhere and haven't found an answer.

The manual states that the valve should freely turn between normal and adverse, but that the detent has to be pressed to change to the other 2 positions.

After cleaning and re-installing the gas valve on my 716, I found that the valve will not turn between normal and adverse without pressing the detent (I did not try changing the valve position before I cleaned it). It appears to me that the lugs on the gas valve are designed to catch the detent in any position, meaning the detent would have to be pressed to change the valve to any position.

Am I missing something? I don't want to break it on day one.

Thanks
