sig 556 Classic parts

any suggestions on where a guy might find parts for the 556 Classic? haven't done much shooting the last couple years but pull everything out of the safe periodically to keep an eye on rust (its a bit damp here in Hawaii) and recently all the rubber bits on the 556 have begun to disintegrate, including the butt plate. have been trying to find a replacement but no go so far. only thing i am finding is a couple whole butt stocks on Gunbroker. appreciate any help you can point me towards.

Gunbroker is the best option. Occasionally you'll find auctions from gun busters. They will put up an entire 556 minus the regulated upper receiver area.
They aren't cheap but you get every part as a spare and you could sell off some of the things you don't need to offset the cost.

There are a couple of posts on another forum with us stocks for sale.
I am having this same issue with a Sig 556 trooper - the thick butt pad - which is a user serviceable part - is unobtanium.
I think my solution is to trade it in on an AR platform gun and be done with it - I predict getting parts for an AR type firearm will be much simpler in the future...
I have the small butt pad on mine now - which still is ok - so off to the gun shop it will go...

I'm not familiar with the trooper, but do you know if the extended butt pads are the same across all 556's?
I might have one stashed away that I'm not using and could sell.

I can send you a photo at some point.
Its the Swiss type folder...

A trooper is just one with a shorter barrel so it was easier to drag into and out of a police patrol car (hence the name patrol).

let me see if i can find a sock photo on the interwebs...

IIRC that is the 556 Patrol Swat. ( had one circa 2008-10 prior to moving to CT. ) I do not know if the but pads for the expandable collapsible stock are the same as the german stock in the photo you linked to. I can take a look at my spares and see if i have the thick one you are looking for.

If you have such a thing - i'd love to have it - i can send you a picture of the one that i have that is all deteriorated...

Thanks,

I looked in half dozen places i thought it might be, and i can't find it. I never used mine, and know i have it somewhere. For now i will keep it in my mind to see if it crosses my path.

Thanks - yours may be in the same shape as mine when you do find it...
But let me know if you find it

Thanks in advance,
Josh
