Sig 516 Upper - buffer/spring question

1482 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  rockelino
Hi everyone,

I'm buying a 10" Sig 516 Upper (barrel, BCG, Charging handle, handgrips, etc.) from a private seller. It does not come with the "Sig heavy buffer and spring." I already have an AR-15 Pistol Lower (complete with the Tailhook Mod 2 brace). Do I need to buy the Sig heavy buffer and spring and replace the existing ones in my lower?

Thanks.

p.s.
This will be my first ever Sig weapon.

The one Sig sent me is marked with an H, if your existing one has an H I would assume it would work OK.
Use an H buffer. It doesn’t need to be from sig. only time I would use a different buffer on a 516 is if you run it full auto. For FA I use a tungsten powdered buffer H2. Many don’t know this but 516 factory full autos use tungsten powdered buffers.
Once I buy the upper, how do I register it, since SIG requires a serial number upon registration?
