Usually a .357 SIG barrel designed for a particular model will fit in the .40 S&W version of that same model. So a P229 barrel will only fit a P229, etc. With the P239, a 9mm barrel will also fit in the .40/.357 slide, but that is not the case for most SIGs.

If you post a pic of it we can probably figure out what it's for. Certain guns only come in certain calibers, and each model has a specific barrel length. See if you can get a pic with a ruler next to it.

P226--9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 4.4" barrel
P228--9mm, 3.9" barrel
P229--9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 3.9" barrel
P239--9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 3.6" barrel

Lkwebb, it appears to be a P229 barrel. The barrel hood is wider on the P229 than on the P239, plus it's a little too long for a P239.

Sorry for the close, but not quite "bad luck"!

I agree it looks like a P229 barrel. There's no pics from the top--the P229 barrel hood is really square looking.

Go to SIGs website. Each barrel is shown with the correct model of gun.
