My self and three friends just bought four police trade ins, like new condition only needed to change grips. Is there any way to improve the trigger pull? Guns have a long creep and moderate trigger pull. Pistols are waiting on .40 caliber barrels. Making guns more versatile. Any ideas on how to improve pistols? TIA hvymech

It will help to state whether these are "DAO" or DA/SA guns.

Sounds like a good pickup there !
I would suggest installing a Short Reset Trigger (SRT) kit and possibly changing the hammer strut, seat and spring to a Gray Guns fat custom strut system

That's my 2¢

good point
I’d second the question asking if these were DAK and also the SRT and strut suggestion. Were these LE trade ins carried/used or are they “unissued” pieces?

my last P229 I put in a Armory Craft Flat trigger, SRT kit, and a Sig Armorer mainspring strut system. i like the Gray Guns fat custom strut system also, and it is in several of my Sigs

Once again, a photo would be worth a 1000 words...

With only 10 posts, in the past 4 years, I assume you have missed many discussions on this subject.

Until you have them in hand, and can provide some photos, and answer questions, any further action is a likely waist of time.

All four guns are Da/Sa almost no wear except on right side of grip, uu prefix, us made, with 3 factory sig mags.

You can either "smooth" the edges of the stamped E2 Hammer Strut, and pick up some 19# Mainsprings, or as already suggested, pick up a Sig Armorer Super Strut, or Gray Guns Fat Custom Strut system to eliminate the smoothing process of the OEM Struts. With the addition of the lighter weight Mainsprings, this will both smooth and lower your double action pull weight. Remember, these weapons, probably need to be cleaned and properly lubricated also.

Here are some photos of what I've done with many of my own. While I do use the Sig Armorer's Super Strut in some of my pistols, I don't install them in all! The rough edges of the stamped metal strut act as miniature saws, and with the flex of the Mainspring coils, can actually cut into the coils, causing that "gritty" feeling in the pull. When smoothed a light film of grease helps a bit too! You can use something as simple as an Aluminum Oxide Knife Sharpening stone to bevel the edges, as well, so no expensive tools needed!
