Showing my age. Anybody here remember the P239?

That is a facetious question, as I am sure there are those here who have. Just curious if anybody here still carries one?

I will be the first to admit that it is all but obsolete considering capacity and size against what is currently available.

I too now carry either a P365 or P365XL as on duty backup and most often off duty, but the P239 was one of my first backups many years ago. I find it hard to sell it, and I still carry it on occasion. Still love it.

Am I alone?

Not alone. I own 5 of them. Not my EDC (P229) but absolutely love the P239. Some guns may technically be “obsolete” but only from a capacity standpoint but are great shooters and classics. I like it 10 times more than the 365 and if it had the capacity of the 365, Sig would probably still be making it.

I do not carry my P239, but I still enjoy shooting it. Even though I carry my P365s exclusively now, I will never sell it.

I’m waiting for a new holster and I’ll be carrying my 239 this summer , for now it’s still a 229.
I haven’t held an XL but the standard 365 feels too small for my hand, the 239 after adding an Armory Craft +1 baseplate is perfect.
And it’s not available for .357 sig.😎

I haven't carried mine in a while but it is ready to go any time. I love my P239 SAS Gen 2 9mm. A wonderfully accurate pistol and incredibly fun to shoot. I will like be carrying It again this summer with the certain shirts that don't hang over my other guns as easily.

My hands on on the small side of a typical "large" glove size. The P365 is ok, but my pinky is only half on the front strap. The XL is excellent for me. I am issued (or was) the G17 currently, and the G19 USED to be my off duty. When I started same or better scores with the XL, that all changed. Easier in every way, same capacity with my second mag with only 3 less standard, and I can run it like the much larger gun.

If I am dressed, I am carrying my P239 SAS DA/SA in 9mm, have for many years. It is heavy, but it shoots very accurately. Shortly after purchase I had Gerry Ritacco build it with his patented QTR trigger system, awesome. It is just an occasional shooter, but after 30k rounds or so, it feels like an old glove when I do shoot it. It is all I want for EDC.

Well, the P239 was only discontinued in 2018.. So you’re not that old.

Thanks for that, but mine was long since retired by that time...

Agreed! The P239 in 357 Sig is an outstanding handgun...I EDC mine in cooler months.

I suggest you step out of the plastic paradise and try to buy a nice one, and there’s parts galore.
I was never big on it. I much preferred the p229 and the p220 carry over it.
I have both the P239 and its arch-rival the S&W 3913, as well as a late comer to the compact single stack competition, a Kahr CT-9. All are single stack 9mm that are easy to shoot and carry. With 8+1, and an obligatory 8 round spare magazine, I don't feel under-gunned carrying any of the three.

The P239 was my EDC from 2006-2018. I initially purchased it because I wanted a gun with the similar action as my P226 which I'd had training and thousands of rounds fired. For the same reason I was reluctant to go to the P365 but with the additional rounds I figured I'd give it a try. Now after 3 years and 2k plus rounds I'm hooked on the 365 with a 12 round mag and 1 in the pipe. It's a great little gun.

Well, if the bad guy doesn't faint dead away, outright from the blast, that fireball would torch off all his pubic hair and then some!

I have two P239's 40/357 and 9. I'll carry the 40 when my regular EDC, a P229 40 with green dot, doesn't work. I don't and won't own a striker.

I rotate a couple of mine, primarily my DA/SAs, currently a 9mm this spring/summer, and a .40 S&W for fall/winter, on the "slower" days...

I've currently got 5, 1 in .357 Sig (DA/SA) top row, 2 each in .40 S&W (DA/SA & DAO) middle row, and 2 in 9mm (DA/SA & DAK) bottom row...

I still carry my P239/9 daily. In the warm weather it's IWB in a Milt Sparks VMII. In the winter it shares duty with the P229/.357, but I carry it most often OWB in a Don Hume H721OT.
