The Romeo1 that came with my P229 Legion gave me a warning at my last match. The dot turned off during a string of steel challenge. I used the co-witnessed sights, then it lit back up after the very next shot. The gun/sight combo is two years old. I put a Duracell in it after the third month of using it, since the original battery was toast, and the combo has been through over 5,000 rounds of 147gr reloads. It is my CCW and steel challenge pistol. This disappearing/re-appearing dot happening for the remainder of the match. I drove home, replaced the battery, torqued the battery cap to 12-inch pounds, and returned weapon to normal service. The battery had finally given out after two years. Not too bad, considering that the Romeo1 turns itself on several times during the day. If your red dot starts turning itself off and on for no reason, might need a fresh battery.
