Replacing OEM buttstock

624 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  caustic
Hi,
I have a MCX Virtus Patrol and the buttstock that it came with does not have a QD point and I'd like one on the stock. My questions are, Can I replace just the piece that slides, or do I have to replace the whole assembly? If just the stock, can I use any AR-15 type stock or not? I am assuming that any stock assembly with the 1913 adapter will work.

Also any recommendations?

should be able to just put whatever stock you want on. i like the magpul moe sl
You may be able to add a QD socket to the existing stock. I have a Magpul SL-K stock on a Virtus that I added a QD M-lok socket to one side of a slot that doubles for use with slings. The older Virtus stocks came with dual sided QD sockets.

ok but does that mean I have to buy the whole thing or just the polymer piece that has the buttstock.

that's not a bad idea.

From personal experience, I just replaced the stock(brace) on my Sig m 400 . The brace stock was round and wouldn’t accept the Magpal mil spec stock Ordered. I ended with a new brace, spring, and buffer. The original Sig M 400 stock was too large and didn’t have the adjustments because it was a brace stock. I went with a Geissele stock, spring and buffer. Haven’t shot it yet to check reliable abilities. The one I chose had a H 1 buffer. I gained a lot of knowledge this past week.
I just did this on my 516 for the same reason (wanted a QD on there). 30 seconds to do (just pull the pin on the adjustment thing further than it goes with the lever and pull it off). Went with the corresponding Magpul one, MAG310.

Search for videos showing this on youetube/there are many.
