Removal of loaded chamber indicator (LCI) on M18 and the like?

Is it possible to remove the loaded chamber indicatory on the M17/M18/X-compact so that a regular standard barrel can be used in the slide? I do not like that thing sticking up in front of the front sight and would like to buy a standard threaded barrel so that I may use it in my standard 320 compact and M18 without having to have 2 separate threaded barrels for my suppressor?

Unless I can use either barrel in either gun but I still don't like that thing sticking up in front of the front sight.. grrrr...

I filed mine down so it wouldn't stick up. It doesn't answer your question about a different barrel, sorry! However you can remove it so a standard barrel will fit, I just didn't want a hole in top of my slide.
It can be removed youll just have that gap.
I thought about takikg it out and grinding the part that extends into the chamber down and using non lci cut barrels.
I dotn shoot with red dots yet so its been very low on my priority list.
How hard is it to remove? I assume i have to take apart the slide, correct?
I’m surprised no one makes a filler for the hole.

You just take off the optic/ rear sight plate then it comes out easy. There is a spring and the lci lever itself.
