What does everyone think of the p-230---232 pistol? I see some on GB. what would you pay for one? are they good shooters? good for CC?

I had a P232 Stainless in the late '90s, which was a good shooter, but a little on the heavy side for a .380 pistol. The only problem I see, is the lack of factory support. There are 2 versions of the P230, with the later, more like a P232. OEM Magazines can be pricey, and of course Pro Mag, use is at yout own risk. For the size, they are "old fashioned" blowbacks, and the "premium" of their genre.

I got rid of mine over 20 years back, and went with a Kahr K9, for a 9mm in the same weight/size package.

Glancing at what is offered currently on GB, I would question the pricing on those over 1K, unless they were NIB with everything! For strictly a shooter more than $700 seems ridiculous, for a .380 pistol.

As often mentioned a Stainless P232 would have been the premier James Bond 007 weapon, in a fantasy world... just my take on them!

Matrix Precision is currently making some of the small torsion springs, that can help keep many running, but as several here, have been in search for replacement Extractors, when they run well, they're great, but when something goes amiss, frustration settles in, as no one desires an expensive paperweight!

WOW THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EXPERT INFO--THEY LOOK REALLY GOOD, BUT I WILL THINK ABOUT IT.
Bought my P230 brand new back in the 90s and still own it. It is a very nice shooter but I shoot it sparingly for the reasons Willard stated. Parts. But, still glad to own it and will never sell it.

I saw one a couple of months ago at a gun show for $750. Excellent condition, no original case or papers, but it did come with 5 magazines. I didn't get it for the same reasons identified above (and the dealer wouldn't come off the price for cash).
The magazines alone are worth almost that much.

THANKS PEOPLE FOR ALL THE INFO
I gave up a Glock 17 Gen 3 for my SS P230 a year ago (guy was asking $600 with 3 factory mags) without thinking twice. It's been my daily carry ever since and have no plans to change---
IMHO the P230/232 are one of the most natural pointing guns made. The HK P7 is the only one I have found that is better. You can hand either the SIG or HK to anyone and they will be able to hit a 8" target at 25-30' reliably. I have been carrying a W.German P230 as my daily OC side arm since I had a total shoulder replacement on my shooting side. My previous OC sidearm was a German P228. I still have it and still using it a bit for rehab hoping to be able to use it again.

Very nice looking, very ergonomic, VERY well made, and very reliable. Against other choices available today, very heavy, very underpowered for it's size, very low capacity for its size, very snappy recoil being a blow back, as compared to a like sized locked breach 9mm. IMO, a gorgeous, well made piece of obsolete machinery. The only reasons to own one is either the love of the particular gun, which is a totally valid reason BTW, or like me, bought one in the 90s for my ex wife and still have it because nobody around here really wants it.
I have found them to tend to be ammo sensitive in general. Not all, mind you, but these model(s) tend to choke on sharp hollow points. Remington Golden Sabres are my recommendation for reliable feeding hollow points in a P230/232. The rounded tip of the bullet contrasted with the sharper tip of most other hollow points, leading to catching on the feed ramp.
I have two of each. A blued and a SS 230. A two tone and a SS 232. I have extra springs and around 25 mags. I carried them for a bit but went to a 365. I am still looking for a few more to pick up. There was a 230 and a 232 made in 32 acp. A 230 in 9mm Police and a 232 in 22lr. The 32 acp and the 9mm Police are possible but the 22lr may be impossible.

Wow. 25 P230 magazines? I envy you. Those are tough to find. I’ve been looking to add a couple extra but no luck.

CDNN had some of the stainless on sale a few years ago for around $35. I bought several that day.

Back 20 years ago, CDNN had about the best price around for them, I purchased several myself, for fellow PD members. Find some Shotgun News from the early 2000s, CDNN had multi page advertisements almost every issue...
I think it was in December of 2018 when I got them.

One issue with the 232 series is the takedown lever has a habit of coming out of the frame. It cannot be replaced without a special tool which requires a return to the factory.

In the thousands of rounds of cast & jacketed hand loads fired by my SIGnificant other in her 230/232,I've never witnessed a take down lever coming/walking out of the frame.

I had a take down lever thumb tab (riveted like any P series classic) that would not rotate the take down as designed.

I removed the take down lever (W/O any special tool),precision TIG welded the thumb tab/lever to the take down,,,said pistol is in operation to this day.

OP,
MecGar Bersa Thunder 8rd 380ACP magazine w/ a simple modification function flawlessly in a SIG P230/232.
Since there’s a p230/232 crowd gathered here — Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent leather mag carrier that will hold the 232 mag snug? Thanks.
