Question on P229 grips

687 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Firearms Collector
It seems I remember a p229 shown with rosewood Sig Logo grips. I have been trying to find a set with no luck. Can anyone tell me if In fact those were available and if so where can I look to find a set? Thanks in advance.

They were most common on the Stainless Steel Elite (SEE) models.
They were installed by SIG on many black aluminum-framed SIGs, mostly Special Production (-SP) models. They look beautiful on a black gun.
But yes, they did exist for several years. They may be getting scarce on the used market now. But look for factory Rosewood SSE grips.
Check Ebay too. You'll often find fairly obscure Sig parts on there.
Thanks for all the input. Will follow up with what I find. We’re any made with the Sig Sauer raised in the wood itself as with the P220?
There’s a photo of those on Midwest Gun Works website (search P229 grips) Discontinued
Seems that the SSE Sigs came with wood without the logo. The ASA Sigs have a wood handle WITH Sig logo. This has been the case with my SSE and ASE.
Another source. If you have the silver medallions Hogue will put them in for you. I have custom
Hogue (medallion) grips on my 229.

Those that Deserttrans show are the walnut medalion grips that came on the ASE models (Alloy Stainless Elite). Those had aluminum alloy frames but were Cerakoted to look like stainless. Those are not Rosewood grips. The Rosewood did not have a medalion in the grips. But did have the SIG Sauer name engraved in the wood.

These are the Rosewood grips.

The ones I would want are the ones GBIA posted. Will probably post a WTB add in the future. Thanks again for all the info. Purchased a set for my P220 awhile back for $75 would like to do it for the 229
