Note, I'm not looking for the "If you could only have one caliber" answer (just assume you have all of them and you're picking your favorite). Also, I'm not going to list every caliber. If your caliber isn't listed, just select "Other" and let us know your choice in the comments (hint: I'm not going to list .25 ACP or 30 Super Carry).

9MM, it does the job. Simple.
Ditto
^^^^^ This. Just about any size gun you can think of for carry is available in 9mm. Plus
9mm is readily available and relatively inexpensive.

I only have two full size pistols. One is .357SIG, the other is .45ACP.

I like 9mm for smaller guns and .357 SIG or even .40 S&W for larger ones. Larger heaver handguns like the SIG P226/P229 especially handle these rounds very well, and in the case of .357 SIG, it can do everything 9mm can do and better. Because of ammo costs, I practice mostly with 9mm, but it's like the old days of carrying .357 Magnum and practicing with .38 Special.

.44 snubby with "specials" mixed with some hard hitters to go through cars.
So based on the actual question I selected 10mm. It is a great cartridge that is out on the fringe for the most part. Of course I have an carry 9mm because that is what everything is available in. But if I were really choosing a favorite I do believe it would be the 10.

I like the way the .357 SIG round behaves in the P239. Sometime back, I had my original P239 set up to accept all three calibers, 9mm, .357 SIG and 40 S&W. Once I fired the .357 SIG round, I immediately sold the 9mm and 40 S&W accoutrements; which speaks volumes about the respect I have for the .357 SIG round.

I chose 10mm, because I like it and don't carry wheel guns anymore, except as a BUG then its a 44 special.

Interesting. More than half of us favor something other than 9mm. There is hope yet.

Shouldn't pick 9mm -- it'll blow their lung out.

Same. While I don't conceal a full size pistol, if I was going to it would be a 10mm. One of the most versatile calibers, imo.

I do, and I prefer the .357 SIG for a number of reasons. It doesn't mean I don't like, or carry, or shoot other calibers just as well, it just means that if I'm going to carry a full-size pistol, i.e., P226/P229 size, I'll take it in .357 SIG.

9mm. I have 6 calibers in full size. I SLIGHTLY prefer 9’s because I shoot it so much. I‘d be comfortable in any of my other calibers.
Wow, after 47 votes .357 SIG is tied with 9mm!

I only posted this poll in Glocktalk a little while ago, but it's interesting to note the differences thus far...
