Just got a new P938and found it very difficult to reinstall the guide rod and spring. So I fashioned a guide rod helper from a piece 1 1/2 in copper pipe. I found it helpful. The helper pushes on the rod while allowing the fingers to be far enough away so I can see when to push the rod down in place. I find it much easier to push with the helper than having my finger tips on the end of the rod.
Once the rod is in far enough, it's easy to raise the back end of the helper and push forward and down to set the rod.
See attached photos. I thought this may help someone.

If it works, yippee! Do some research in the older posts. You'll find some folks had the same problem. The simplest, use a .22 cleaning rod thru the guide rod hole of the slide to capture the spring while re-installing. I just capture the slide between my legs and muscle it. Right hand pushing, left hand all fingers around the spring.
