P365XL Reassembly Concern

667 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Henny
Up until this last range trip, my P365XL remained locked to the rear when rotating the takedown lever from the 6 o clock position to the 3 o clock position when reassembling. I would then have to rack the slide or depress the slide release to return the slide to battery. After my usual cleaning and lube, when I rotated the takedown lever, the slide went into battery without touching the slide release. I now have to manually hold the slide release up prior to rotating the takedown lever, or the slide will automatically return to battery, bypassing the slide release. Is there an issue with my gun or am I just being paranoid?

Nothing to worry about..
mine acts same way .. as long as it slides back to full battery.. you are good to go..
Mine does too.

I'd give right arm to be ambidextrous
Thanks for reaching out so quickly! I’m glad I’m not losing my mind here and that my handgun isn’t broken. Any idea as to what caused this change?

Nothing. It's just a normal behavior. It happens periodically with my P365XL, as well. I've tried, unsuccessfully, to duplicate the behavior "on demand" but it just happens sometimes and not others.
One of mine e does the same thing and my other two do not. I had a 224 that did the same.

Mine does it too.
My XL is doing this. My standard model doesn't. My solution has just been to hold the slide release lever up while I rotate the takedown lever.

On another note.. when you open the take down lever it more goes to a 7 o'clock position. If you nudge it back to the 6 to 5 o'clock position before installing the slide, it will snap back to a closed position as soon as you push up on the slide release.

This is because the take down lever safety bar pulls the seer down, making the takedown lever spring loaded.

If you leave the take down lever @ 7 o'clock though you have to give it a little nudge, as the RSA is holding it in position. .
Thank you all again for reaching out, it seems like a good bit of us are experiencing the same thing. As long as it isn’t a safety issue or serious defect I’m just going to keep running it as is. Y’all be safe!
