P365XL "Coyote Spectre" + Asking Some Advice

1717 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  cactusgrade
Hey SigTalk crew,
Introducing the new P365XL "Coyote Spectre" I recently transformed my original P365 into. I am really digging the new look and feel of this pistol.

Upgrades include:
P365XL Spectre Slide Assembly Coyote Brown
P365XL Laser Stippled Grip Module Coyote Brown
P365 Flat Trigger Kit
Streamlight TLR-6 P365
Sig Sauer Romeo Zero ELITE 2MOA Red Dot / 32MOA Circle

A couple of questions:
Is the steel shroud a necessary component of the Romeo Zero ELITE? I am aware of the issues with the original Romeo Zero but felt that the ELITE might be worth a try. So far so good. But, the steel shroud raises the sight just enough to make co-witnessing the front sight barely plausible. However, would removing the shroud be more detrimental than not having co-witnessed iron sights?

I like the look and feel of the SPECTRE models but wanted the coyote colorway as I am an easily marketed to sucker. Does anyone have any issues with excessive lint or pocket junk build up in their slides from the lightning cuts and daily carry? Or is it a moot issue?

Thanks for any tips!

Very nice ..
As RomeoZero Elite I don't use metal shroud at all , so bulky and looks obnoxiously ugly ..
"The proprietary carbon-infused polymer housing with reinforced lens area also gives the ROMEOZero ELITE an even greater level of drop protection, making it incredibly rugged"

Yours looks very svelte. True, I guess that might be part of the reason for the upgrade right?

I'll admit it does look better and the front sight lines up better with the rear notch. I am usually the "well I have it so why not?" type but, I like the idea of back up sights for the same reason. Then again, I run the fully enclosed shroud on my Romeo2 haha

How do you like the stippled grip?

I’m fine with the size of the XL grip but find I need a Talon Grip. How grippy is the stippled version?

Definitely has a more aggressive texture to it. If you like the Talon grip, it might be a good thing to try out. It's probably not as aggressive as the Talon feel but it's a step up from the standard.
IMO the dot is your primary sighting solution. you should make sure to protect it as much as possible. That means use the shroud. I wouldn't prioritize a secondary sighting system over securing the primary system.

That said, the optimal solution would be to go for a more durable optic that doesn't need a shroud (read: Holosun 407k/507k/EPS/EPSc) and doesn't require you to make a compromise at all.
