P365 not XL red dot

1412 Views 20 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  oldfrank
Hey I keep seeing for sale or on SIG website that P365 XL — the larger version with larger grip and longer barrel — with a red dot on it. I guess they sell one all put together with their Romeo red dot, but I suppose you could put others on there as well. My thought is if I’m going to carry something that big, I’m just going to keep my Glock 19.

I’d like to carry something smaller and I like the size of the original P365. My question is, do they offer the smaller P365 with a red dot cut, or has anybody here on the forum sent theirs off to somebody to have it milled for red dot?

The P365X slide has a red dot cut ( SLIDE ASSEMBLY, P365X, 3.1IN, 9MM, X-RAY3 W/NS PLATE, BLK ). It is the same length as the P365 and interchangeable.
That would be a P365X, with the FCU slipped into a P365 grip module and loaded 10+1.

Here's a pic of mine (P365X) in this configuration. I had a pinky mag inserted. I was doing an analysis of pocket carry with an optic. Picture is shown with my LCR in a Desantis Nemesis at left. It is a pretty nice 10+1 package, especially in the Vedder Pocket locker.

I have since put the FCU back into the Wilson Combat grip module, and switched back to AIWB with 12+1.

There's the P365, the P365X, P365XL, P365 Spectre Comp, and the P365-380 at this point.

You can get the P365X if you want the optics cut. ANd if you want the shorter grip you just need a standard grip module and a 10 round magazine or two.

If you want a dot I personally would get the P365X without the Romeo Zero and opt for a 407K or 507K from Holosun.

You better off get P365 as cheap as you can and then upgrade it yourself the way you like it ..
Or get the P365X ..

It looks like @Rich Jenkins has identified the "cheapest" upgrade path - buy the P365X then replace the grip module for ~$40.

My P365 has the XL grip module and the X slide. I added a Holosun HE507K-GR optic.

$40.00 Grip module is way too cheap to make it decent ..

I like the XL grip module better than the P365 grip module especially the flush fit 12 round magazine.

I'm sure you can find more expensive grips but the OEM grip for the P365 is MSRP $39.99 and slightly discounted by many vendors.

I agree, however, the OP indicated he was specifically not interested in the XL.
I'll chime in that the XL is significantly smaller than the G19.
Wanna say the xl is a lot smaller. But otherwise you could get a 365x and possibly put an xl module to give you more of a grip

Personally, owning both the standard P365 and the XL, as well as a G19.. if I'm going to go with something on my belt it's probably going to be the G19. I find it easier to shoot, my drawstroke is faster as there's more room to get my hands on it. The longer slide is more comfortable if I carry AIWB.

I accept the compromises of my EDC, the standard P365 because it's 10+1 rounds of 9mm JHP that fits in my pocket. The XL has all the disadvantages that come with a tiny grip but is still big enough to require belt duty unless you put a short grip on it. Then it makes another pocket option. With either grip I can't drop a magazine without first opening my strong hand a bit.

Perhaps not as big an issue for people with smaller hands/smaller builds. But if I had to keep two it would be the P365 and my G19.

I put a Romeo Zero Elite on my 365XL and it is small enough weapon that you don't even really notice there is a red dot on it until you draw.
To actually answer the OP, yes, I put a Holoson 507c by having somebody mill the slide of my basic P365 and mount it.
My 365 is being milled as we speak. I hope to get it back this week.
I added the Wilson XL grip frame to my 365 so basically I have a 365X.
Who is doing the milling work?

Also, do you lose the rear sights when milling the P365?

I sent my P365 slide off to Fabricated Arms and had it milled for a Trijicon RMRcc and use the SIG X-Ray 3 Suppressor height sights as backups. I use this slide on a P365 XL grip module with a Hogue sleeve and Tactical Dev Pro Ledge Base Pad for a 12-round magazine and it fits my hand size perfectly.

iceman17930,

Does the rear backup sight built into your Holosun 507K align ok with the standard P365X front sight or would a suppressor height front sight work better?

My P365 has the XL grip module and the X slide. I added a Holosun HE507K-GR optic.
