I don't think it's powder residue, i could not remove it with wd40 and a nylon brush.It’s powder residue from factory test firing. Most guns get factory test fired, totally normal. There was a time they would include the test target. But those days are gone for mass produced weapons. After you shoot it a few times you won’t even think about it.
I think i will polish it with a very fine sand paper like Scarrier sugested.A cleaning patch will take care of that.
Just my take brother as others have stated, was it going to be a collector's piece, a safe queen, or a show piece when you have buddy's over? If not clean it up, lube it down and head to range and fire the hell out of it.....lolIs this smudge normal for a brand new gun? Could not remove it with wd40 + nylon brush.
No finish wear marks on barrel, slide and magazine. Should i polish it?

Make sure you point it down so nothing gets into striker unit ..I think i will polish it with a very fine sand paper like Scarrier sugested.
I tried to clean it before but could not remove.
