Is this smudge normal for a brand new gun? Could not remove it with wd40 + nylon brush.
No finish wear marks on barrel, slide and magazine. Should i polish it?

Probably from Sig test-firing it. I don’t think it’s an issue

It's fine. As Andy105 stated, it's from Sig test firing the gun before shipment.

Go out and put a couple hundred rounds through it, and then try and spot the smudge.

It’s powder residue from factory test firing. Most guns get factory test fired, totally normal. There was a time they would include the test target. But those days are gone for mass produced weapons. After you shoot it a few times you won’t even think about it.

I don't think it's powder residue, i could not remove it with wd40 and a nylon brush.
It seems that the nitron finish sprayed on there or something else.
Gun manufacture date is aug - 2021.
Send Sig the picture and let them know. They’ll probably send you and RMA number to send it back to them.

A cleaning patch will take care of that.

WD40 and a nylon brush? How about gun cleaning solvent and a bronze brush?

Just my take brother as others have stated, was it going to be a collector's piece, a safe queen, or a show piece when you have buddy's over? If not clean it up, lube it down and head to range and fire the hell out of it.....lol

I'm a detail guy and things like this bothered me with everyday life stuff but in the mechanical world metal objects show ware especially firearms. Again brother go enjoy your new P365 and shoot it well.

Make sure you point it down so nothing gets into striker unit ..
Btw.. I think the mark comes from the top barrel contact .. It might comes back eventually ?

That discoloration on the breach face is not as disconcerting as that sanding or scrubbing look on top of it. A Gun Scrubber and nylon brush is usually enough to remove those nasty stains.

Never spray wd-40 in or on a gun.

The "smudge" as you called it, is not an issue. And don't send a photo to Sig. Your gun is normal.

Yeah- I agree with the few... just act like it's not there....and it will disappear.

All my new Sigs had it. After 100’s of rounds, it’s still there. I think. This is my 229 Elite 357 Sig with well over a thousand rounds.

I just looked at the OP’s picture again, is the firing pin sticking out past the breach face ?
