P365-380 convert to 9mm possible?

4915 Views 12 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Bigbear77
I bought a p365-380, and I mistakenly forgot to check its caliber (because I wanted the 9mm version).
Is it possible to swap out any of its parts to make it be a 9mm, i.e. switch the 380 upper with a 9mm upper or switch barrels?

I am not the expert on this subject- BUT- I believe you can. However the cost will hit kinda close to nearly buying a new gun.
Probably better to trade or sell your 380 and just buy a new gun.
Been wanting the 380 myself....might would consider buying yours.....IF you lived close enough to meet FTF. I live in Mobile?
Just an option there?

Yeah, I was thinking about the trade-in option, but I kind of want to keep the upper it has because it's optic ready, and it also has a manual safety. So if at all possible, then I'd like to try to convert it to a 9mm
Also, sorry, I'm a bit far away from Mobile
You absolutely can. Just swap the slide/barrel/spring/rod top and the magazine, and you're good to go. I've done this with mine - works great, and easy peasy to swap back and forth.
You can get an ok deal on a complete slide, barrel, recoil spring on ebay if you are a little patient. Otherwise you might be better just buying a 9mm 365 for $499. By the time you buy the slide for 3 or 4 hundred and a couple magazines you are pretty close. If you want optic ready you will have to pony up a bit more either way you go.

See if anyone here wants to trade mags and full uppers (should have a good chance). Buy mags and a full upper if you have any interest in being able to shoot both calibers. Otherwise just trade it and take the loss.

Barrel, recoil spring, and mags yes. But is the 380 slide different from 9mm?

Just get the P365X if you want the optics cut. You can't use the slide, barrel, or recoil spring from the 380. Nor mags. Using the 380 slide with 9mm could break something which could lead to worse things.

You will get more for your money just buying a complete P365 and deciding which one you want to keep.

You might have to buy the full X-slide "optic ready" and sell your .380 ..
SLIDE ASSEMBLY, P365X, 3.1IN, 9MM, X-RAY3 W/NS PLATE, BLK
I have P380 and like it so much ..
keep it for awhile you might like it too

The P365-380 and the 9mm version share the same FCU and grip modules. The upper assembly and mags are different. I know there are guys out there wanting a .380 conversion unit of some sort for their 9mm, so either trade with one of them or get the upper/mags you need and sell the .380 components to recoup the costs.
the .380 slide is m

From what I understand, the slides are different. The .380 slide’s weight is tuned to function with that cartridge
OP, while the 9mm version is fun to shoot, the .380 version is even more fun to shoot with much quicker shot-to-shot times. Also, the standard P365 does not yet come with an optics cut. To get that you would have to buy a 9mm P365X (not XL). If you get rid of your .380, you still would have to buy a standard sized grip module for the X at about $40. If you keep your .380, you could put the X slide assembly on your .380's fire control unit and grip module.

If you shoot that .380 you probably will want to keep it. :)
