P322.... Why Fixed barrel

Curious question, any idea why SIG would make the barrel fixed / unremovable?

Why do you need a removable barrel in a blowback .22? A fixed barrel aids accuracy.

Many blowback operated firearms have a fixed barrel.

A fixed barrel also makes for an excellent suppressor host

Only the Browning and rotating barrel designs aren't fixed, almost everything else is. It's inherently more accurate as the sights when mounted on the barrel aren't sliding around.

There probably isn’t enough power in round to do a floating barrel setup. I suspect it’s been tried but, I’ve never seen one.

1911 22 conversion kits as well as the Sig Classic series 22 conversion kits.

My Browning 1911-22 which is an 85% size 1911 - floating barrel. It is an accurate shooter and non ammo picky. It also cost quite a bit more than the popular .22lr plastic fantastics.

I have two S&W M&P .22 compacts with the usual fixed barrels and they are a lot of fun to shoot and also mostly non ammo picky. The Ruger Mark IV is an animal all of its own as far as "barrel" and etc. But for cleaning purposes, that barrel is fixed also.

I have shopped around for another .22lr handgun for my "collection" but cannot find one that comes even close to the Browning and the M&P .22 compacts in ergonomics (for me), strength necessary to rack or triggers that please me. --- None of which have anything at all to do with whether the barrel is fixed or floating. Just thought I'd toss that in for kicks.

Here are 2, one type for a P226 and one type foor a P229. They were sold for a long time. They where picky on ammo as you needed stronger ammo to work well. CCI mini mags always functioned perfect.

And here is a Sig P226-22. Which is the standard P226 frame with the above slide set up. I actually bought it as a 22 and use all the calibers on the the same frame.

Just curious. Probably I would pimp up my P322 by replacing the barrel with say a gold barrel if I could.
