I am not able to rotate the take down lever with my bare hands. The gun is new, and I want to lubricate it before going to the range.

On the YouTube videos it looks so easy!

What am I doing wrong? How do I get it to free up?

Just to be clear, you removed the mag and locked the slide back first, correct? If so, yes they still require some force for the first few times you rotate the lever down

you're not doing anything wrong. its the o-ring on the takedown lever.


lube it and it should be good.

Mine was VERY difficult the first time, as said above lube it and it'll loosen up. Some guys have used a rag to prevent scratches and a pair of pliers or a wrench to rotate it if it was too difficult.

The first few times I disassembled my 320 compact, it was REALLY hard. I thought I was gonna break something. Double check your slide is locked back with no magazine in it and give her hell

When I first disassembled my 320C when new, it was pretty hard to move the lever. Now that it's been taken down (at least 12 times or more) it's pretty easy to do. You might want to put just a drop of oil on the take down lever pin (for lack of terminology) before you attempt to take the gun down. Seemed to help mine the first time.
Ps: I used an old shooting glove to protect my thumb the first few times.
You don't need pliers.
