Will you be able to purchase an XTen in California?
Are you thinking of getting an XTen conversion kit if they become available?

Will you be able to purchase an XTen in California?I'm pretty excited about the new P320 XTen firearm. But does anyone know if it uses the 9mm FCU or the 45acp FCU? Per Dan Zimmerman from thetruthaboutguns.com he says it's the 9mm FCU with a 45acp takedown lever, but I've been reading different things on the forums from people who attended the unveiling of the XTen, some say it's a 9mm FCU somes say it's a 45acp FCU. I really hope it's a 9mm FCU since I already have a few of these, if it's a 45acp FCU it'll be almost impossible to get here in California.
Yeah, I'm planning on getting an XTen conversion kit if the FCU is the 9mm version; because you can't buy the P320s here in California, only if you know someone who moved here from out of state and wants to sell the one he brought with him. So it's very difficult, and I haven't found anyone with the 45acp version of the P320, so if it uses that FCU that's not good news for me. If, on the other hand, it uses the 9mm FCU that's excellent news for me.Will you be able to purchase an XTen in California?

My understanding is that a 9mm FCU can be used with a 45 grip frame.Yeah, I'm planning on getting an XTen conversion kit if the FCU is the 9mm version; because you can't buy the P320s here in California, only if you know someone who moved here from out of state and wants to sell the one he brought with him. Hopefully an AXG option. I wonder if Icarus Precision has something in the works?I wonder if there will be small, medium and large modules like the legacy P320?????
I am looking forward to this as well. My only concern would be if the existing full size 45 mags would work with the grip module. I say this because when I modified my own full size 45 mag to accept 10mm rounds, I could only fit a maximum of 14 rounds. This is the same amount as a full size 40/357 mag.I’m hoping that there will now be an x-series grip module compatible with the .45 ACP. Not a fan of the original and only module that came with the .45.
How so? This is very interesting, I smell potential here. But once modified will it still work for 9mm, 357 Sig, and 40 S&W, or not anymore? The 9/40/357 fcus and parts can be modified to work with 45 and now 10mm
Thanks so much for the detailed information and photos BajaJames! Now I get what Dan Zimmerman was referring to when the said the FCU was a 9mm FCU with a 45acp takedown lever; basically just trim or replace the takedown lever to a 9mm FCU and you've got yourself a true lego gun, Lol. The takedown lever is a part within the FCU, correct, it's not a permanent part of the FCU like the ejector? Some people also mention that the ejector on the actual FCU is too long to function with the 45acp case; do you find this to be the case? If so, do you think the 10mm will suffer from the same issue with the extractor?Yes it will work for all calibers once modified.
You either need to modify (remove the tab on the safety takedown bar) or replace the bar with the 45 one (doesnt have the tab)
The pictures attached show the little tab.
Once you remove the tab you will lose the takedown safety function that will not allow you to takedown the gun with a magazine inserted. IMHO I could care less about that feature as i never field strip a gun with a magazine inserted any way thats just stupid. View attachment 456905

I use 45 FCU's in 9mm/40/357 so I do not have an answer to that. Thanks so much for the detailed information and photos BajaJames! Thanks again!
Got it. Well, at least I know that I can modify my FCUs for 45acp and they’ll still work for 9mm. I believe the only difference between a 9mm and a 45acp FCU is the takedown lever and the shorter ejector.I use 45 FCU's in 9mm/40/357 so I do not have an answer to that.
BajaJames What's the reasoning behind a shorter ejector on the 45acp FCU. Is it because the 45acp round is longer than the 9mm, or fatter? Because looking at the 10mm and the 45acp side by side the 10mm is way longer the 45acp, albeit significantly thinner.I use 45 FCU's in 9mm/40/357 so I do not have an answer to that.
Yeah, that's why I was thinking about the 10mm. There's some reports that the 10mm FCU will use a 45acp FCU, but the 10mm is a lot longer than the 45acp, so I'm curious too to see if the ejector will be even shorter. If it is, do you think it'll still work with 9mm? Because like you mentioned the 45acp FCU does work with 9mm.Its length. It will be interesting to see if the 10mm has a shorter ejector too.
