P320 X Compact Question

700 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Bad Bob
Hi all. I just got a Sig P320 X Compact. It's my first sig and I like it so far. I was just wondering if the mag release button is plastic or metal. It feels like plastic but I know the P320 standard model has a metal one. Thank you.

And, if you have any doubt at all, stick a magnet to it. It's steel.

Welcome. The X compact is a fine pistol. Enjoy!!
Thanks, all. I've tried like crazy (and viewed the videos on this forum) to get the mag release out, so I can oil it, but i'm having no luck. One of the things that's always kept me away from Sig is that I've often read (but don't know if it's true) that they are rust buckets. I always wipe down the guns after carrying or use, but the more polymer the better as far as I'm concerned. I want to make sure that button doesn't rust, but it doesnt come out, so now im just going to remove the mag and wipe it down from in the well, and drop some around the button.

It's on the internet. It must be true.

More than the internet. A few friends at the local Sheriff's office said they won't use them for that reason (but yes, i've read it on the internet too) . . . this was maybe 8 years ago, so I dont know if things have changed. Will oiling it from inside the well, and putting oil around the button on both ends from time to time be sufficient?
Anything can rust, if you don't properly maintain them. But "rust bucket"? Please. Even the often claim of the old folded slide being rust magnet is ridiculous. Maintain your weapon right, and it will last a lifetime.

Welcome and congrats on the XCompact. I just took mine out to the range yesterday! It’s a freakin accurate tack driver. This is about 175rds of American Eagle 124gr at 10yds. Might have to zoom in to see it. Some out around the edges but I also did some fast fire too for fun. Mostly….. well no center left.

Does anyone know if the grip modules come with magazine releases installed? I am thinking about buying a backup and maybe a nice tan one.

If you order Sig factory modules, yes. If you go the Wilson Combat route, you may have to install it. The mag release components will be included in the package for you to install most of the time, however, I ordered one from WC and it was already installed.

If not, they are pretty simple to install.
