P320-M18 Barrel Hood Wear Out of the Boxx

Took delivery of M18 last week. Gave it a quick visual at retailer however upon arrival home noted wear on top of barrel hood as pictured here. Cleaned/lubed. Put 90 rounds through it then another 70 next day. Shoots great!! My M17 shows somewhat similar wear but it wasn’t out of the box. Assume the wear resulted from Sig’s test firing or subsequent racking of the slide before delivery to me. Normal?

Yea, sometimes if it has been in a display case for a while, the handling and racking that people do to it in the store will show some wear. I have not seen it usually that much unless it is one of the new gold barrels.

An online purchase from Bass Pro Shops delivered to their store. Guess could have been sitting in a display case elsewhere..

It may be a little worse than what you see sometimes. But I work at a LGS. I've seen hundreds of P320s of various flavors. Especially if that was a display/shelf model and it had been racked dozens of times with no lube. That's normal.

maybe your ffl took it out for a test drive!
Ive seen some with similar wear at low round counts. With tolerances so tight these days its pretty common.
Ive seen quite a few brand new slides out the box with pre worn/ polished areas on the underside of the slide right where the barrel hood rides.
