I inherited a P290 today and all I can say is there’s a special place in for whoever designed the takedown procedure .

At some point during its run, SIG started including a plastic piece that you insert into the ejection port to hold the slide open at the exact position to push the pin out. It makes all the difference. If you don't have that piece, you should call them to see if they could send you one.

Thanks. I’ll see if it’s available. Seems like a nice, sort of cute little gun but it destined for the safe I think.

It takes a little getting used to, but it really isn't bad. Pushing the takedown lever out gets easier after it's done a few times.

Once you get used to holding the slide back against that stout recoil spring it becomes second nature. It's a lot like taking down the P2022, only in miniature.

The P290 has been my EDC for years. I really like the little guy.

Shoots surprisingly nice and groups pretty good. I ran 50 rounds through and it kept on rocking. I’m not a 9mm guy - the only 9 in my household is my wife’s baby glock so it’s not likely I’ll shoot this much - I assume I’ll end up trading it for something I’ll actually use or sell it. Overall it’s a very nice example. Thanks.
