P238 Emperor Scorpion finish issue

580 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sudo
So, I just discovered some discoloration on the metal portion of the grip on my 238 Emperor Scorpion. I've discovered it was caused by my tungsten wedding band. I don't mind it much, it just adds character to a beloved tool and makes it even more mime. Anyone else have this on their metal framed pistols?

If it has the FDE finish Expect all sorts of things. I have a P239 Scorpion with that finish and It Scratches even when I take it in and out of a leather lined holster. I hate it.

I have the original P238 Scorpion FDE finish. Yes, it wears and it scratches. I keep it as my carry gun and don't care what the finish looks like which is a good thing. My P238 "titanium finish" Rainbow also scratches, easier than the Scorpion does. IMHO: SIG makes great metal guns but has lousy finishes - especially the FDE. So far the SAS is GREAT with its plain SS slide. That's the way to go. Wish I had two of them instead of one of the other models.

I have a p238 HD made from all stainless. Slide and frame.

Very durable. Best finish choice for a heavy use gun.
