P229 SSE - German Frame Value

3008 Views 29 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  TuTama
Considering moving a nice one I have. It's like new condition. Has about 100 rounds through it. Original blue case, and grips. I also have the both triggers (short reach and short reset) and 2 original mags. It's an AM serial number. I can't remember the build date.

I see newer ones on GB going in the $1400 range. Does the German frame make it any more/less valuable? Does the older platform make it any more or less valuable? I know there is some difference with easily being able to convert to 40 and 357 on the new versions vs the old versions.

Anyone have any opinions on value of one like this 10 years from now.

Sorry for all the different questions. Just looking to stir up some conversation to better understand this piece.

Thanks

My good old reliable US made crystal ball just broke last night (I accidentally dropped it). But my Chicom made one says one gazillion dollars. So, take it for what it's worth.

LOL I hear ya. Just curious on people thoughts.

I guess, I'm mainly wondering if there is anything special about this one or if its just another Stainless 229
There are always 2 camps on the German made frame thing. One values it more. The other same as US made one.
Also, a lot of folks love the old Legacy slide. I'm one of those. If I were looking for the SSE P229, this one would be it.

That's a good looking gun. If I wanted an SSE, I'd take it.

A lot of folks want the stainless frame with the beavertail, which has been discontinued. So like everything else, in supply and demand, it depends on who is bidding on them, and how deep their pockets go!

If it has the original case with stickers. It will likely bring more than $1500 maybe exceed over $2000 on a gunbroker auction.

Thanks for this info. I was kind of thinking this might pull over 1500 as well. $2,000 would be great.

I do have original case and paperwork. Not 100% sure about the sticker. The older blue cases the foam was not as good as the newer cases. So the foam in the case is not perfect. I also have 2 additional sets of grips. One set of the hard grips and a set of Hogue grips.
This one sold yesterday:
I would say the short extractor probably adds as much value as the German frame. Unless your dying for cash I’d probably hang on to it. Even if Sig were to start making new steel frame P-Series guns the short extractor is dead and gone on the P229.
