P229 Elite vs Enhanced Elite is there a difference?

Hello all, I searched the forum and I couldn't find an answer.
I recently bought a P229 Dark Elite in .40 and I l really it a lot. I sent it in to Sig for the XRay sights upgrade and service package. Now I am looking for a P229 in 9mm. In searching various sites I have come across P229 Elite and P229 Enhanced Elite.
Is there a difference and if so what are the differences?

The Enhanced Elite is no longer in production. It has the full beavertail frame without the high undercut trigger guard, and sports the E2 grip (hence the name "Enhanced").

The new Elite is what SIG currently produces. It has the Legion frame (smaller beavertail, high undercut trigger guard). It also wears the E2 grip, but the "Enhanced" has been deleted from the nomenclature. Btw, the P229 Elite pic on SIG's website is that of the old Enhanced Elite (full beavertail), not the new one.

I have the P229 Enhanced Elite in 9mm. If I had a go to gun it would be it. One questionably negative thing that mine has is its loaded chamber indicator, which was required to make it California Compliant. Many hate it who believe it interferes with the looks of the P229 and others think it unnecessarry as they always keep the chamber loaded. Me like it. While always keep the chamber loaded, if by some random chance somebody else gets access to it, they may not realize it is loaded. More likely is that I like to be able to confirm there the pipe is loaded if I hear the proverbial bump in the night. I don't want any nagging doubt in my mind and in pitch black darkness I can confirm the round by running a finger across the top of the slide. I care little, a teensy bit, as to whether the LCI breaks up the lines of the P229 Enhanced Elite.

Thank you for the response, it was very clear and concise. I know that there were differences between the Elite and the Legion such as the undercut and the different sized slide release.
Any idea when the Enhanced Elites stopped being produced and the Elite started being produced?
It seems to me that the new Elites are Legion lites so to speak. I'm not sure how I feel about the reduced Beaver tail. I like the looks of the old style but the shortened style does seem a bit more practical for CC. It seems like either way you can't go wrong.
Which version would you choose if you had the choice?
As I mentioned, I own both Enhanced Elites and Legions. The Legion is a 10 and the EE is an 8.5 with difference being sights, grips, undercut and one extra magazine. If you added these to the EE it brings the EE to 9.5. Legion gets the extra .5 for under cut and ongoing extra Sig discounts on various Sig products and services which adds up.

Jumping in late but I just received my P229 Legion in 9mm. I have had a P226 Enhanced Elite also in 9mm that I purchased about ten years ago. Obviously a different model but I didn't think it could hurt to share. Here is a side by side comparison if it helps but let me know if you have any questions.

I had an Enhanced Elite, but the E2 grips were too small so I replaced them with Hogue G10 grips. Now I just refer to it as the Elite. The new Elites are more like the Legion frame. Basically it's a catch all for many versions which are upgraded from the standard P229.

I have 3 Enhanced Elites (2 40/357 and 1 9mm) and along with my Legions, are some of my favorite Sigs for SD use.

Doesw anyone know what the P229 Enhanced Elite's trigger pull was back in 2015? I got a 2015 California model and I believe its nominal DA trigger pull was about a pound less than the current Elite. I think mine's was marketed as 9.4 pounds and todays Elite is marketed a 10 pounds.

The SIG DA pull has always been marketed as 10 lbs.

I located the littl manual that cam with my P229 and it indeed gives DA trigger pull as 10 lbs.

10lbs is a standard Sig DA pull.
