I had a bunch of light primer strikes with my P228 the other day at the range. Is it possible to run my p228 slide on my P229 Legacy Classic Carry slide to narrow down if the issue might be with the hammer spring or in the firing pin channel?

The P228 complete slide will work. I can't remember if your P229 uses the P229-1 barrel or not. If it does, then you'll need to swap the P228 locking insert as well.

My new to meP228R was having light primer strikes after I installed a SA super strut. I switched back to the OEM strut and seat, still issues. Installed new recoil spring. Checked the firing pin function, still issues. After much frustration, figured out it was just hard primers in a batch of Norma 9mm ammo, I had bought.

Don’t discount hard primers. I took my p229 .357 out to range the other day, not only light primer strikes, the last round didn’t even have a dimple. Figured I broke the firing pin doing double taps on the rounds, but no symptoms of it being broken after I got it home.
Put a .40 barrel in it and took it back to the range, ran a hundred rounds thru it without a hiccup. I’m still scratching my head, that last round’s primer looks flush with the case, etc.

Too many unanswered questions, to begin with... first is this the same ammunition you have used in the past, or newly acquired? Before chasing ghosts, if this is a new lot of ammunition, or a different brand than before, as others have mentioned, try using a brand that you have had success with before.

Try the "Pencil Test" to see how far your pistol will launch a pencil. If it cannot, then you may have excessive fouling in the Firing Pin bore. or maybe you have a weak Mainspring. Of the original pinned strut assembly, you may want to consider updating to a more modern system. Since you haven't mentioned your P228s history, or possible round count, there could be many causes.

A few of you have posted on my thread about light strike sith a P229 after dropping in a SuperStrut, experimenting with lighter hammer srings, and eve swapping out the OEM hammer for a skeletonized hammer. Gotten to the point that it isn't clear that the strikes are the problem, but it may be the ammo. Now waitng on delivery of better ammo, as well as pins to permit me to clean the firing pin channel.

What ammo were you using? Did you use several different brands or all the same?
