Unfired? Looks pristine. Price doesn’t surprise me. Not uncommon to see popular discontinued hammer Sigs going for $2000-$3000.

I guess you are right but still amazing to me.
That's what happens when a couple of guys want something very badly.

FYI if anyone buys from this seller. Directly below the GB Sales Tax info in the ad, The seller states they collect Florida Sales Tax as that is where they are based. Florida has state, and city/county sales taxes. Could be a problem with overcharging a buyer sales tax. Seller does not seem to understand Sales Tax is charged based on were the buyer resides, and GB does the calculation.
I liker mine better plus it does not have an Exeter Slide (JK)
So yours does have an Exeter slide? :p

Sometimes it isn't even the market. Like 12131 said, two people are basically fighting over it now. That's not the only reason it is expensive but it contributes way more than you would think. Not too long ago on GB, I saw a KB factory nickel P228 with the box and papers for around $2200. It sat around for quite a while. Not long before that, I saw another factory nickel P228 go for over $4000 in an instant bidding war.

I’d be surprised if it ends less than$3000.

I have been watching 228s lately and they have definitely moved up pricewise. A few weeks ago a slide and stripped frame went for just shy of $500. Even beat up guns are over 5 right now. Anything in good condition with a box is over a grand.

After years of carrying Sigs I only found my first P228 earlier this year. K-Kote KH 1997 or so. Used but pristine and with box target etc.. Maybe 100 rounds through her. After some back and forth with the local seller got her for $800. Seems like a deal now.

Two weekends ago I saw a 1990 WG P228 w/box and all the goodies very similar to this one at a show for $1,100 and I don’t believe it sold. Same table also had a 1986 P226 w/box for the same price. Don’t think that sold too. I was there on the last day near closing time. I agree, a few fighting over this one.

I thought about making an offer on the P226 (already have a collector grade WG P228) but I had already bought the only HK USPc 9mm at the show.

Oh I know, I was just messing with you. Friendly joke :)

Ex: You said the date code was JK, which is obviously 1989 and thus Herndon. But the acronym "JK" usually means "just kidding", so I played off that.

Can’t have them all, all the time. The HK USPc in 9mm with the LEM trigger I grabbed is actually harder to find than a WG P228. Been hunting that one for a long time. Rarer than hens teeth.

That particular show is coming back next month. Next time around I’ll grab a OG Sig Sauer P series in 9mm.
