stopped at lgs looking for new grip module for p320 and made the mistake of walking past the used pistol section and sitting there was a barely used p227 carry fde. looked liked it had been test fired and that was it, spare mag still wrapped. I will be picking it up in a week or two and will post picks when I have it.

Just bought a 227 FDE from a member here but I would have jumped on a carry size. Nice score.
I know they don't make them anymore but how collectable are they? I plan on putting in a srt kit and some g10 grips and shooting it alot. If she shoots like my other 227s I will put it in the carry rotation.
I've never seen an FDE Carry P227. I knew they made some full-size, but I have not seen a Carry. Did you see the sticker on the case? I wonder if it is a factory FDE?
Pictures please

Awesome!
I would say it is something rare.
But I don't look at most guns as an investment. It is really hard to predict what might be considered a "collector's item" or, if it ever does, how long it will remain a "collector's item". One of the things that attracted most buyers (like me) to the P227 was the 14-round high capacity mags, and they aren't being made any longer because SIG wouldn't put a stronger spring in them and most didn't work well. So people were left with a large gun that only held 10 rounds, only two more than the thinner P220.

Who knows what will happen with the value for the P227 in the future.
But I would say that the P227 Carry, especially a rare one in FDE, will be more likely to increase in value than a full-size.

I would say, if you like it, buy it, and don't worry about what might (or not) happen to its value in the future.

See? That's what happened twice recently to me! "Walked past the used gun counter at my LGS". Lol. Congrats! Can't wait to see pics.
If you're going to fire it, it's a tool. If you want to keep it as 'an investment', then lock it up in a safe and don't shoot it.

I've read the FDE finish shows wear more quickly with use.

That is not a Carry. It is a full-size P227. But, it is still awesome!

its still at the store so I'll have double check but the couter guy measured it at 3.9. and it isn't printed on the box. Either way I will keep it.
Nothing to check. The long dust cover of the slide extending past the front of the frame = full size. Nice find regardless!
