I'm the proud new owner of a sig p226 elite, which has the srt kit, I disassembled it to clean it really well before taking it to the range and now I am having trouble putting it back together correctly. I think I'm not seating the trigger bar exactly where it needs to be or I installed the safety bar wrong, but I'm pretty sure the safety bar is installed correctly. The trigger is not pulling the hammer back all the way and there's not enough tension on the hammer, any help would be great thanks. Also if anyone could point me to some diagrams or videos that show where exactly the trigger bar is supposed to sit that would be great because I haven't been able to find anything.
First, a warm welcome from South Florida. Love Texas. I am Texan by marriage.
It could help if you could post a picture of the right side of your gun with the grips off. Forum members should be able to offer advice.
My guess is #1 the the rear end of the transfer bar spring is not in the right notch. Should be in the rear notch on the bottom of the transfer bar.
#2 if not, and if you did a complete take down of your weapon including the hammer strut, it is possible that the rear notch on top of the hammer strut is not place correctly on the bottom of the hammer.
Do a Google search for SIG P226 assembly. You should find several videos for you P226 and other P's which similar if not the same. Also look at the Gunsmithing Subforum here and look for "The Mother of all DYI Videos".
Great info.
