If the photos are representative, these look to be in decent shape. If they weren't .40 I'd pick up one of each.

Although at that price, replacing the .40 barrel with a .357 Sig barrel becomes a very reasonable option.

You can't have it all. Meaning you can not have a low price and the most desirable in one package unless you get real lucky. If these were 9mm, I suspect they would be sold out in a blink of an eye. The retailer would have difficulty buying 9mm at this price point even in bulk if they were available.

Great prices. I'd rather have the 229 in 9mm.
Yes they are.
If I didn't already have a 229 in 40 and 9mm, I'd get one. But with all the LE agencies going back to 9mm, and all these 40 S&W guns turning up, it seems like an affordable way to build up the weapons cache. It's not like having an extra 40 will ever hurt ya...just having it.
I may need another, if for nothing else, to convert it to 357 Sig. :D

That's a decent price, even sight unseen.

My LGS has a bunch of P226 and P229 .40S&W LE trade-ins that he can't move @ $499 to $549. I was fortunate enough to be in his shop when they first came in a few month's ago and he let me pick through them. I found three P226 .40's and one P226 9mm DAK that somehow escaped being issued and were like new. I got a deal on all four. :)

Barrel looks pretty worn. I have 7k rounds down my SIG P226, it doesn't have those lines. Then again, 40s&w is prob harder on the gun than 9mm. Not sure I would buy it sight unseen, but I will def be looking out for the police tradeins at my lgs!

Those older barrels were blued and show wear like that after a few hundred rounds. You can find some real bargains if you have an LGS that does LE sales.

I am a very serious .40 believer. The latest tests with Gelatin done by Lucky Gunner have not shown me a single 9M or most other calibers that meet / Beat the .40 S&W with the Remington Golden Saber. Except the newest .45 load that actually expands wider with the same level of penetration and energy transfer.
