P220 .22 Conversion on P226

Good day!

Im reporting my findings here with my recent purchase of a Sig P220 .22 conversion kit installed on a P226

I recently purchased a 'unused' kit from 2015 that was part of a P226 deal, but was able to get the kit by itself from the seller. To my surprise it turned out to be a P220 .22 kit when it arrived. uh oh!

Well what the hell; lets give a try!. We have a bit of a situation here in Canada at the moment which has affected the overall supply of pistols and speed (lack of) to have them transferred to ones possession and conversion kits are exempt from this as they are just a 'part'
,
The P220 slide mates up to my P226R from 2016 (an LE refurb in Canada) and the P220 mag loads without issue.
1 round of CCI 40gr Mini-mag CPRN to start- a DA pull makes it go bang. Success

I load another 10- the slide fails to go into battery a few times and a little push on the rear with my thumb gets it there. After the first 3 mags its now unstoppable and running without a hitch

Has anyone else had any luck swapping a P220 .22 slide onto their P226?

The barrel lug should be marked (220,226,229) & visible from a side view which lug is pinned to the rimfire barrel.

Take notice that a some clearance for the extractor to fit the barrel cut will help function also.

GSDesigns.CA (Canada not Kommifornia) 3D prints 10 round magazines for the P220,226,229 that function the slide lock after the last round is fired per design.

Some install a taller magazine follower to jam/hold the slide open after the last round is fired.
It's been discussed, and the minor differences with the P220 and P226 are minimal, the biggest being location of the disconnect notch.

I'm assuming you did get P226 Rimfire Magazines, to feed it...

The most likely solution for your Slide not fully seating, may be lubrication, with the aluminum slide, oil likely best and "wet". Without photos or "in hand", it's all theory!
I can get some more pics together if there is any interest on the parts.

I found it all interesting myself though I’m not promoting this or suggesting it will work or be problem free for everyone who tries

The Lug has “220” on it , and the slide has “220” in white on the side as well

I’ve put 200 rounds of CCI mini mag 40gr CPRN through it so far, and after the third magazine I put through it, it hasnt had one failure so I have no complaints!!

I’m not sure if GSdesigns is still operating or not, otherwise I’d like to pickup a magazine for a 220 and a 226 and see what works best?

I have the same conversion kit. Works great. Mags have the tall follower to hold slide back on last round. Seller even included a stainless threaded barrel.
